One of the famous long term trend following systems - the turtle trading system - is today freely available. There are different sites and people, who are trying to sell something similar or are somehow connected to the originators of the turtle trend following system.
I have visited the turtletrader site a number of times in the past years, and always found it interesting and full of clever content.
Of course I didn't know what rule set was being offered, but I assumed that some turtle or friend(s) of a turtle (or even a friend of a friend of a turtle) put together a rule set which was being promoted as competition to Russell Sands' course.
Dennis Ritchie and his friends put forth a media blitz putdown of Sands' seminar claiming that anything Sands' would have to say would be a waste of time. (This was home turf, being in Chicago) A good portion of the seminar attendees were disturbed by the goings-on and probably are to this day.
I computer tested the strategies that Sands disclosed, and while not exactly the same as revealed here, they were very close, and very profitable then and even now. I would never fade the system.
It had, and still has a very large edge, and I believe that it was an excellent value at the time.
In November 2000, Ed Seykota and Bruce Tizes entered into a partnership agreement to form Galt Capital as an investment advisor company. In late 2001, Seykota and Tizes had a falling out and Seykota allegedly abandoned Galt Capital in breach of the partnership agreement.
